Dubai is famous for towers, malls, and beaches, but the city also has a wonderful collection of green spaces that most visitors never discover. There are wide lawns made for long picnics, lakes and ponds, shaded playgrounds, a forest of native ghaf trees, and one of the longest mountain bike networks in the region, all within a short drive of the city centre.

Even better, most of them cost almost nothing. Entry ranges from free to five dirhams, and a park morning is one of the most relaxed and affordable ways to enjoy the city once the cooler months arrive.

Here are the best parks in Dubai, what each one is best for, and how to make the most of them.

Good to Know Before You Go

Park season runs from around October to April. This is when the weather is perfect for picnics, cycling, and long walks. In the warmer months, early morning is the most comfortable time to visit.

Entry is free or very low cost. The larger Dubai Municipality parks charge a few dirhams per person, while many neighbourhood parks are completely free. Children aged two and under and People of Determination usually enter free.

Opening hours. Most public parks open at 8 AM and stay open until around 10 or 11 PM, with slightly longer hours on weekends and public holidays.

Payment. Some park gates accept the Nol card, which makes entry quick and easy. It is also worth keeping a little cash with you for small fees and rides.

Barbecues. Several of the big parks have dedicated barbecue areas. Grilling is only allowed in those spots, and some parks, like Al Barsha Pond Park, do not have barbecue areas at all.

Bring the essentials. Water, sun protection, and a picnic blanket. Shade is generous in some parks and limited in others.

The Big City Parks

These are the classic Dubai parks: large, central, easy to reach by Metro, and full of space to spread out.

Zabeel Park

Zabeel, off Sheikh Zayed Road. AED 5 per person. Metro: Max (Red Line).

One of the most central parks in Dubai, covering around 47 hectares of lawns, palm trees, and play areas. It has a 2.5 kilometre jogging track around the perimeter, a lake, shaded picnic and barbecue areas, and plenty of space for a game of football or cricket.

The park is also home to the Dubai Frame, so it is easy to combine a morning picnic with one of the city's most recognisable landmarks. The Frame needs its own ticket.

Best for. A central, easy picnic with a landmark included.

Creek Park

Umm Hurair. AED 5 per person. Metro: Dubai Healthcare City (Green Line).

One of Dubai's oldest and best loved parks, stretching for around 2.6 kilometres along the banks of Dubai Creek. Wide lawns, gardens, playgrounds, and lovely views over the water make it a favourite with families, especially on weekends.

Inside the park you will also find Children's City, an interactive learning centre for younger kids, which is ticketed separately.

Best for. Families, creek views, and a classic weekend barbecue.

Safa Park

Al Wasl. AED 3 per person, free parking. Metro: Business Bay (Red Line).

A green favourite in the heart of the city, with open lawns, playgrounds, picnic areas, a little train ride, and a fenced ladies' area. Part of the original park became the Dubai Water Canal, so it is smaller than it once was, but it remains one of the most peaceful spots between Downtown and Jumeirah.

Best for. A quiet central escape close to Downtown and Jumeirah.

Mushrif National Park: Nature and Adventure

Al Khawaneej Street, Mirdif. AED 3 per person, AED 10 per car.

If you only visit one park in Dubai, make it this one. Mushrif National Park is the oldest park in the city and feels completely different from the rest. Instead of manicured lawns, you get more than five square kilometres of natural ghaf forest, sandy picnic spots, and wildlife, especially birds.

The Mountain Bike Trails

Mushrif is home to around 50 kilometres of mountain bike trails, the longest network in central Dubai. The trails are graded by colour, so everyone can find their level.

Green trails for beginners.

Blue trails for intermediate riders.

Red trails for experienced riders who want a real challenge.

The trails start from Mushrif Hub, which has a café, changing rooms, and showers. The mountain bike track generally opens from around 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and helmets are mandatory. Bring your own bike, or check rental options before you go.

The Walking Trail

For hikers and walkers, a 9.7 kilometre trail winds through the park with paths for different fitness levels. It is one of the best places in the city for a proper nature walk.

Everything Else Inside

International Village. A collection of small traditional houses from around the world, a fun discovery for kids.

Swimming pools. Public pools for adults and children, around AED 10 for adults and AED 5 for children.

Horse and camel rides. Available at the park's equestrian area.

Al Thuraya Astronomy Centre. Planetarium shows and telescope viewing for curious minds of all ages.

Aventura Parks. A treetop adventure course with ziplines and five difficulty levels, ticketed separately.

Train ride, playgrounds, and barbecue areas. Everything you need for a full family day out.

Best for. Cycling, hiking, nature, and anyone who wants a full day outdoors.

Quranic Park

Al Khawaneej. Free entry. Glass House and Cave of Miracles around AED 5 each.

A peaceful and unique park covering more than 60 hectares, built around plants and stories mentioned in the Quran. Twelve themed gardens showcase plants such as dates, olives, figs, and pomegranates, and a calm lake runs through the centre.

Two small attractions are well worth the few dirhams. The Glass House is a climate controlled greenhouse holding dozens of plant species mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah. The Cave of Miracles is an interactive exhibit that uses 3D visuals and holograms to tell the stories of the miracles. Both are indoors, so they make a pleasant break from the sun.

Best for. A calm, cultural visit with something to learn along the way.

Free Neighbourhood Parks

Al Nahda 2. Free.

A lovely community park on the Deira side, centred on a pond, with playgrounds, jogging and cycling tracks, and outdoor fitness equipment.

Al Ittihad Park

Palm Jumeirah, beneath the Palm Monorail. Free, open 24 hours.

A long, green strip running down the trunk of the Palm, with a 3.2 kilometre jogging track, play areas, native plants labelled along the way, and cafés nearby. It is also dog friendly, which makes it a favourite for morning walks with four legged friends.

JLT Park

Jumeirah Lakes Towers. Free.

A pleasant park between the towers, with zoned areas including a dedicated baby and toddler zone. Perfect for young families living in or visiting the Marina side of the city.

Parks with Extras

Dubai Hills Park

Dubai Hills Estate. Free entry, with a paid day pass for extra activities.

A modern park with shaded play areas, sports courts, running tracks, and a dog park. Entry is free, and a day pass (around AED 55 for residents and AED 85 for non-residents) unlocks extras like the splash park and skate park. Great for families who want a full day of activities in one place.

Town Square Park

Town Square, Dubailand. Free entry, with separate fees for rides.

A big, friendly community park with large lawns, a playground, a splash pad, a carousel, and a family train. Ideal for younger children.

A Park by the Beach: Al Mamzar Beach Park

Al Mamzar, near the Sharjah border. AED 5 per person, AED 30 per car. Metro: Al Qiyadah (Green Line).

The best of both worlds. Al Mamzar combines more than 100 hectares of lawns and playgrounds with calm, sandy beaches and swimming pools. Families can book chalets for a full day by the water. For more on swimming spots around the city, see our guide to free beaches versus beach clubs in Dubai.

Make a Day of It

Parks pair beautifully with other outdoor plans. Combine Zabeel Park with the Dubai Frame, add a park morning to a weekend of free things to do in Dubai, or head further out to the Al Qudra Lakes for desert lakes and cycling tracks. If you love mountain biking at Mushrif, the trails in Hatta are the perfect next adventure. And if you are planning with little ones, our guide to Dubai with kids by age has plenty more ideas.

Final Takeaway

Dubai's parks are one of the city's best kept secrets. Zabeel and Creek Park offer central green space with landmark and creek views, Safa Park brings calm close to Downtown, and Mushrif National Park delivers real forest, 50 kilometres of bike trails, and a full day of adventure. Quranic Park adds a peaceful cultural touch, and the free neighbourhood parks make every morning an invitation to get outside.

Pack a blanket, bring some water, and enjoy the season. A morning in the park might just become your favourite Dubai ritual.
