Adrenaline in Dubai: Skydiving, Ziplines and What Is Actually Worth the Money
Skydiving from AED 1,899, the XLine from AED 499, iFly from AED 160. What each costs, who is allowed, and the rules that cost people their ticket.

Dubai has built an unusually dense collection of adrenaline experiences. You can jump out of a plane over the Palm, fly across the Marina on a zipline, walk around the outside of a skyscraper, and float in a wind tunnel inside a shopping mall, all in the same city.
They are also some of the most expensive single activities in Dubai, almost all of them are non refundable, and several have strict weight and age rules that are checked on the day. People lose their full ticket price every week by not reading those rules before paying.
Here is what each one actually offers, what it costs, and who is allowed to do it.
The Price Ladder
Roughly, from cheapest to most expensive:
Indoor skydiving at iFly Dubai. Around AED 160 to 240 for a starter package.
The XLine zipline. From around AED 499, with wide variation between sellers.
The Sky Views Edge Walk. Around AED 499.
Tandem skydiving. From around AED 1,899 in the desert and AED 2,199 over the Palm, before photos and video.
The gap between the bottom and the top of that list is more than ten times. Deciding which one you actually want matters.
Tandem Skydiving
The headline experience. You jump from around 13,000 feet, strapped to an instructor, with roughly a minute of freefall at over 190 km/h before the parachute opens for a slow glide down.
The Palm or the Desert
Skydive Dubai runs two drop zones, and they are quite different.
The Palm Drop Zone is the famous one, next to Dubai Marina. The view during the fall takes in the whole of Palm Jumeirah, the World Islands, Ain Dubai, and Burj Al Arab. Tandem jumps start from around AED 2,199.
The Desert Campus off the Al Ain Road is cheaper, with tandem jumps from around AED 1,899, and far less busy. The view is open desert rather than coastline. It also closes for part of the summer, so check it is running before planning around it.
If the view of the Palm is the reason you are jumping, pay for the Palm. If the freefall itself is the point, the desert is the better value.

Who Can Jump
This is where people get caught out.
Age. You must be at least 18 on the day of the jump. Guests over 70 need a declaration of fitness form signed and stamped by a doctor.
Weight and BMI. Women must weigh 90 kg or less with a BMI of 27.5 or less. Men must weigh 100 kg or less with a BMI of 30 or less. There is no minimum weight.
How you are weighed. At check in, with your clothes and shoes on. If you are close to the limit, that matters.
Scuba diving. You cannot jump within 24 hours of a dive.
The Money Catches
Tickets are non refundable. If you fail to meet the age, weight, or BMI requirements on the day, arrive late, or arrive under the influence, you lose the full amount.
Photos and video are not included in the base price. The media packages add a significant amount on top, so compare prices with media included, not without.
Name corrections cost money. A correction fee of around AED 300 applies for fixing a misspelt name or changing location. Enter your name exactly as it appears on your ID.
Operating days vary by season. The Palm Drop Zone does not run every day of the week, and its schedule changes between summer and winter. Check before booking.
Weather can move your jump. Skydive Dubai itself advises tourists to book early in their trip so there is time to reschedule if conditions are unsuitable.
How Long It Takes
Plan for three to four hours at the drop zone, including check in, briefing, gearing up, waiting for your load, and the jump itself. The freefall and canopy ride together take only a few minutes.
The XLine Zipline
From around AED 499 on the official site, often listed at AED 650 to 750 elsewhere.
The XLine in Dubai Marina is billed as the world's longest urban zipline, running about one kilometre from the top of a JBR tower down to Dubai Marina Mall. You drop from around 170 metres at speeds of up to 80 km/h, lying face down like a superhero, with the Marina towers either side of you.

The Honest Maths
The ride lasts around one minute. At several hundred dirhams, that makes it one of the most expensive minutes in Dubai. It is still a genuinely thrilling minute, and for many people it is worth it. Just know what you are buying.
Prices vary more than for almost anything else on this list, and two for one offers on adult tickets appear from time to time. Compare the official site with resellers before paying.
Who Can Ride
Age. 12 to 65. Under 18s need a parent or guardian present in person to give consent.
Weight. Between 45 and 100 kg.
Height. Some sellers list a minimum of 130 cm.
Clothing. Closed shoes are required. Skirts, dresses, and flip flops are not allowed.
Belongings. Phones and loose items are not permitted on the line.
Health. Not suitable for pregnant guests, and anyone with neck, back, or heart problems should check with a doctor first.
Tickets are non refundable. The zipline runs in daytime sessions only, split between a morning and an afternoon window.
The Sky Views Edge Walk
Around AED 499.
A hands free, harnessed walk around the outside ledge of a tower in Downtown Dubai, around 219 metres above the ground, with no barrier between you and the city. It is slower than the zipline and in many ways more intense, because you have time to think about where you are standing.
The rules are strict: ages 12 to 65, a weight between 30 and 120 kg, and a height between 135 and 200 cm. It runs during the day, roughly late morning to early evening, and is suspended in high wind. Phones are not allowed on the walk.
The ticket also includes the Sky Views observatory, the glass bridge, and a ride on the glass slide. Our guide to Dubai's observation decks compared explains how Sky Views fits alongside the city's other viewpoints.

iFly Dubai: Indoor Skydiving
Around AED 160 to 240 for a starter package of two short flights.
A vertical wind tunnel on the third floor of City Centre Mirdif, where you float on a column of air with an instructor beside you. It recreates the feeling of freefall without the plane, and the starter package typically gives you two flights of around a minute each after a short briefing.
It is the cheapest option here by a wide margin, it is indoors and running all year, and it is the only one open to young children, with a minimum age of 3. Bring ID and arrive about 30 minutes before your slot. The tunnel can feel chilly, so wear something warm underneath the flight suit.
It is not the same as jumping out of a plane, and it does not pretend to be. It is, however, the best way to find out whether you enjoy the sensation of freefall before spending ten times as much on the real thing.

Desert Adrenaline
If you would rather keep your feet near the ground, the desert offers speed of a different kind. Quad bikes and dune buggies let you drive the dunes yourself rather than sitting in the back of a 4x4, and they can be booked as standalone activities rather than as add ons at a safari camp.
Our guide on how to choose a desert safari explains how to avoid paying twice for the same thing.
Which One Is Actually Worth It
You want the biggest experience of your life and budget is not the issue. Tandem skydiving over the Palm.
You want to skydive but would rather save several hundred dirhams. The Desert Campus.
You want real height with a short, sharp thrill. The XLine.
You want height, but slowly and with time to take it in. The Edge Walk.
You are on a budget, travelling with children, or unsure how you will react. iFly Dubai.
You want to drive something fast yourself. A dune buggy in the desert.
Rules That Apply Almost Everywhere
Nearly everything is non refundable. Read the terms before you pay, not after.
Limits are checked on the day. Weight, height, and age are measured or verified at check in, and failing them usually means losing the ticket.
Bring your ID. Several operators will not let you participate without it.
Wear closed shoes and fitted clothing.
Zero tolerance for alcohol. Arriving under the influence means no activity and no refund.
Pregnant guests cannot take part in any of the activities above.
Book early in your trip. If weather cancels or moves an outdoor activity, you still have time to reschedule.
Final Takeaway
Dubai's adrenaline activities are world class, and at least one of them belongs on most bucket lists. They are also expensive and unforgiving about rules. Check your weight honestly, bring your ID, read the refund terms, and compare the price with media included before you pay.
Do that, and the only thing you will need to worry about is the jump.
