The Courtyard Art & Community Centre is a pioneering cultural hub in Dubai's Al Quoz, founded by architect Dariush Zandi in 1998. Built from a vision of transforming an industrial area into a creative destination, the complex was constructed using reclaimed materials collected from across the UAE over 25 years. Comprising ten low-rise buildings, it became one of Dubai's earliest creative sanctuaries, predating Al Quoz's emergence as the city's contemporary art district. Designed around shaded courtyards and a central fountain, the Centre brings together the Total Arts gallery, a 70-seat theatre, design studios, concept stores, and a bistro, creating a vibrant, freely accessible space where artists, culture, and community come together.

The Courtyard was constructed using salvaged materials including discarded timber ship hulls from Al Jaddaf's shipbuilding district, bricks from a Sharjah bakery, and wrought-iron railings from old Deira houses.
